Under the guidance of the Chief of Advocacy and Communication/Officer in Charge, and the Nutrition Manager, the consultant will help maximize the gains achieved from nutrition advocacy and communication and strengthen follow-on action from UNICEF Philippines' nutrition priorities from 1 December 2026 to 30 November 2027. The consultancy will support the Nutrition team and the Advocacy and Communication Section to implement, monitor and update the nutrition advocacy and communication plan, including the Child Nutrition Fund (CNF) country communications plan, and to produce timely advocacy, media, digital and donor-facing materials.

 

The assignment will support advocacy around the first 1,000 days/maternal nutrition, stunting and wasting, and healthy food environments, including institutionalization of MMS in routine antenatal care, strengthening local nutrition systems and service consistency, scaling severe acute malnutrition detection/referral/outpatient care, and advancing protections from unhealthy food marketing and healthier school and community food environments.

  • Minimum requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor`s university degree in Communication, journalism, public relations, development communication, public health/nutrition communication, political science/political economy, international relations, social sciences or other related fields. Advanced university degree is an advantage
  • Work Experience: Minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in advocacy, communication, media, digital content production, public health/nutrition communication or social development communication is required. Experience with UNICEF, UN, government, INGOs or development partners is an advantage.
  • Skills (optional):  Proven ability to develop advocacy and communication strategies; produce compelling written and digital materials; translate technical nutrition issues for decision makers, partners, media, caregivers and the public; coordinate across programme and communication teams; manage content production and approvals; monitor outputs and metrics; and provide sound judgement on reputational and risk issues.
  • Language Requirements: Excellent written and spoken English is required. Fluency in Filipino or another Philippine language is an advantage
  • Desirables: Media relations, event support, donor visibility, social media analytics, video/photo production coordination and field story-gathering experience.
  • Technical requirements:
  • Detailed technical proposal requirement (if applicable): Short proposal outlining approach to coordinating the 12-month nutrition advocacy and communication workplan.
  • Sample work requirements (if applicable): Two writing samples and/or links to communication products.
