In Haiti’s complex humanitarian context, this stretch assignment offers a unique career development opportunity to support strategic communication and advocacy for children’s rights. It is also aimed at providing valuable hands-on experience in media, digital communication, content production, advocacy, and emergency response, while strengthening your communication skills and professional experience in a humanitarian setting. The remote assignment will also enable you to amplify the voices of children and communities and contribute to advancing UNICEF’s work in Haiti.

Reporting directly to the Chief of Communication, this challenging and exciting role will focus on the following key areas of responsibility:

  • Communication and Advocacy
  • Media Relations
  • Celebrity Engagement, Partnerships and Special Events
  • Global Priorities and Campaigns
  • Political and Situational Analysis

  • Advanced university degree in of Journalism, Communications, External Relations, Public Affairs, Public Relations or Corporate Communications. (A first University combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted.)
  • Five years practical professional work experience in communications, advocacy, media relations, political analysis or youth engagement.
  • Background/familiarity with Emergency situations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in French and English is required. Knowledge of Créole (local language) is an asset. 
  • This is a temporary development opportunity and there will be no changes to the staff member’s status (position number, level, etc.).
  • The candidate will work remotely. However, if a mission to Haiti is possible in light of the security situation, travel will be in economy class regardless of flight duration, and 50% DSA will be provided as per policies on stretch/learning assignments. UNICEF Haiti will also cover the full cost of the return air ticket associated with the mission.
