The purpose of the assignment is to support the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of UNICEF Brazil’s advocacy and communication strategies, contributing to sustained progress on priority advocacy outcomes and visibility of UNICEF’s work.

 

Responsibilities

Aligned with the Advocacy & Communication Specialist profile, the incumbent will work on the following areas:

1. Advocacy strategy development and implementation

  • Support development and refinement of advocacy strategies, including analysis of political, economic and social trends.
  • Identify opportunities and risks for advancing advocacy priorities.
  • Coordinate implementation of advocacy plans and activities across teams.
  • Develop advocacy briefs, narratives, and materials to support campaigns and engagement.

2. Communication strategy support

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of communication plans aligned with advocacy priorities.
  • Support integrated advocacy and communication outputs.
  • Support development and dissemination of advocacy campaigns.
  • Maintain engagement with media outlets and support media relations activities.

3. Stakeholder engagement

  • Support partnerships and coordination with key stakeholders, including government, media, civil society, and private sector partners.
  • Contribute to maintaining strong advocacy networks.

4. Monitoring and reporting

  • Support monitoring and evaluation of advocacy and communication initiatives.
  • Contribute to reporting on results, ensuring progress against defined outcomes.

5. Project coordination

  • Support coordination of advocacy-related projects and activities.
  • Monitor workplans, timelines, and deliverables to ensure timely implementation.

6. Capacity building

  • Contribute to strengthening internal capacity in advocacy and communication through collaboration and knowledge sharing and media training, as needed.
  • Advocacy briefs, messaging, and strategic materials developed or updated.
  • Contributions to advocacy campaigns and communication outputs.
  • Coordinated inputs for stakeholder engagement and high-level meetings.
  • Monitoring updates and summary reports on advocacy progress.

Requirements

  • Experience in advocacy, communications, campaigning, or public policy.
  • Experience supporting implementation of advocacy strategies and initiatives.
  • Experience working with stakeholders and partnerships.

Language: Fluency in both English and Portuguese is required.

 

Release Arrangements:

If selected for this opportunity, the relevant staff member will be based in Brasilia, Brazil. No changes will be made to the staff member’s existing status at UNICEF. The releasing office will continue to cover the staff member’s salary. The receiving office will cover costs for an economy round-trip air ticket and DSA at 50% as a minimum and will also account for reasonable policy conditions set by the releasing office. Once the selection process has been completed, the receiving and releasing offices will communicate to reach an agreement on the start date for the recommended staff member.
