Technical Coordinator - NOC, Banjul, The Gambia

The Technical Coordinator (Project Manager) is located in the UNFPA Gambia Country Office. Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Country Representative, s/he is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of a European Union project with the United Nations Project Services (UNOPS) and Expertise France. The incumbent ensures that all tasks are executed on time, within budget, and aligned with the project's work plan and the 2026–2029 Strategic Plan. s/he will also work closely with a project finance assistant based in the country office and a finance specialist based in Brussels at the UNFPA Representation Office to the European Union.

The Technical Coordinator (Project Manager) will lead the UNFPA technical team to ensure that all wellbeing, gender, and community outputs are achieved and partnership networks as primary vehicles for delivery.

• Project Management and Implementation: leads the day-to-day management and implementation of the project XXX. Coordinate the technical delivery of EU/EY project UNFPA-led outputs, including Comprehensive Health Education (CHE), re-entry programs for girls, and gender-sensitive teacher training.
• Curriculum Integration: Oversees the integration of life skills and reproductive health education into the SSE curriculum to prevent dropouts.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Acts as the UNFPA focal point for MoBSE and MoHERST to ensure national ownership of the EU/EY project. Coordinate with the UNFPA Representation office to the EU, as needed.
• Advocacy & Engagement: Oversees community-level interventions and mentorship programs for aspiring female educators.
• Risk Management: Identifies operational risks and implements mitigation strategies in coordination with the Project Steering Committee.
• Consortium Liaison: Serve as the UNFPA focal point in the Joint PMU, coordinating with UNOPS and Expertise France to synchronise field missions and reporting.
• Innovation & Partnerships: Manage the relationship with the project’s sub-grantees and ensure they leverage digital tools for community mobilisation.
• Evidence-Based Reporting: Utilise app analytics and EMIS data to produce high-quality narrative and financial and narrative reports for the Project Steering Committee and the Donor.

• Education: Advanced degree in Public Health, Education, Gender Studies, Social Sciences or Project Management.
• Experience: At least five years of professional experience in managing complex development programs, preferably in education or adolescent health.
• Competencies: Results-based management, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage diverse stakeholder relationships.
