This position is PRN or as needed.  Eligible for 16% PRN differential.
 
About the opportunity:

The Clinical Genetic Counselor is responsible for all aspects of clinical hereditary cancer genetic counseling. Reviews patient information, evaluates family history, conducts risk assessment and recommends medical or genetic testing based on analysis. Provides genetic counseling services to families in partnership with other clinical care team members.

This role is primarily focused on direct patient care.

 
What you will do:
  • Collects, reviews and interprets family/medical histories, medical records, test results, and other relevant/necessary information.
  • Coordinates testing and communicates results to patient and referring healthcare provider.
  • Develops genetic counseling plans, including risk assessment, referrals, education, life planning options, and treatment options.
  • Provides counseling and education to patients and their families. Identifies and provides referrals for testing, treatment, support, and advocacy.   
  • Participates in multidisciplinary tumor boards as needed.   
  • Researches, maintains, and applies knowledge of trends and developments in genetic disease research, testing, and treatment.   
  • Helps with triaging and scheduling of genetic counseling referrals as needed.

What you will need:
 
Experience:
  • Genetic Counselor experience preferred
License(s)/ Certification(s):
  • Certified Genetic Counselor, renewed every 5 years required
 
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
 
Education:
  • Master of Science in Genetic Counseling (or other applicable degree that allows for ABGC board certification)
