We are looking for a Health & Safety Specialist to join our growing Team! 

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement safety plans/programs in accordance with OSHA Standards.
  • Train employees in worksite safety practices by promoting and leading a site culture where safety is ingrained as a core value.
  • Perform safety inspections of the production floor.
  • Perform audits of the written safety program.
  • Investigates accidents and near misses.  Provides corrective actions.
  • Perform JSA and LOTO assessments.
  • Trains new employees on JSA for their respective areas.
  • Maintain chemical inventory list.
  • Ensure SDS sheets are current and up to date for all departments in IQS.
  • Evaluate and assign all annual safety training needs for all VEGA employees.
  • Manage Safety Skills platform
  • Maintain OSHA 300A log, report electronically through OSHA annually.
  • Monitor subcontractors’ safety and compliance.
  • Prepare and present reports on safety metrics.
  • Ensure that employees consistently follow safety protocols.
  • Coordinate and run the emergency response team.
  • Manage direct seller PPE kits, Respirator Program.
  • Manage hearing conservation program.
  • Assist with annual fire and severe weather drills
  • Manage UniFirst first aid and safety cabinets.
  • Ensure all training is kept up to date for lift truck drivers, ERT, Respirators, Hearing conservation, etc.)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or related field
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • or a combination of education and experience related to the position
  • OSHA 30 Certification
