Airfield Lighting Technician - Balad (OCN)

Seeking a full-time professional in Iraq, supporting Navigational Aids (NAVAIDS) Maintenance & Repair Support project. This position supports 24/7 aviation operations in a deployed environment and ensures safe, efficient, and compliant airfield operations while supporting mission-critical systems.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and replace runway, taxiway, apron, threshold, approach lighting systems, airfield guidance signs, airfield beacons, REILs, and PAPI systems.
- →Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) systems in accordance with FAA, ICAO, UFC, and contract requirements.
- →Diagnose and repair faults in Constant Current Regulators (CCR), isolation transformers, underground cable circuits, lighting vault equipment, and control systems.
- →Conduct routine airfield inspections to verify operational readiness and compliance of lighting and visual navigation aids.
- →Perform electrical testing, insulation resistance (Megger) testing, continuity testing, and fault isolation using specialized diagnostic equipment.
- →Install, modify, upgrade, and commission airfield lighting systems, LED fixtures, regulators, and associated infrastructure.
- →Maintain maintenance records, inspection logs, work orders, and deficiency reports.
- →Coordinate maintenance activities with Airfield Management, Operations, and other stakeholders.
- →Respond to airfield lighting outages and emergency service calls to restore mission-critical systems.
- →Support airfield inspections, NOTAM actions, and operational readiness activities.
- →Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), NFPA 70E, OSHA, and electrical safety requirements.
Requirements
~2 min read- Must have computer skills and be able to operate a variety of computer programs.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license from their home country with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date.
- Must maintain a valid passport from their home country with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date.
- Must satisfy and maintain all medical screening requirements.
- Ability to perform essential job duties in a deployed environment.
- Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining airfield lighting systems.
- Technical school, vocational training, military training, or apprenticeship in Electrical Systems, Electronics, or related field preferred.
- Experience with runway lighting, taxiway lighting, PAPI/VASI systems, REIL systems, airfield beacons, guidance signs, Constant Current Regulators (CCR), and isolation transformers.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting medium- and high-voltage airfield lighting circuits.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, construction drawings, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency using multimeters, Megger insulation testers, clamp meters, cable fault locators, and diagnostic equipment.
- Experience in aviation, airport, military airfield, or deployed environments preferred.
- Certificate from an accredited training institution certifying electrical, technical, or journeyman-level proficiency training.
- Certified on the equipment/systems prior to being assigned work and performing maintenance and/or repair on defective equipment/systems.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency callouts as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain authorized access to Iraqi military installations.
