Communications Technician - Balad (USN)

Seeking a full-time professional in Iraq, supporting Navigational Aids (NAVAIDS) Maintenance & Repair Support project. This position supports 24/7 aviation operations in a deployed environment and ensures safe, efficient, and compliant airfield operations while supporting mission-critical systems.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, program, and configure VHF, UHF, HF, ground-to-air, and airfield communications systems.
- →Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on communications equipment in accordance with FAA, ICAO, DoD, OEM, and contract requirements.
- →Diagnose and repair radio transmitters, receivers, antennas, repeaters, base stations, dispatch systems, and associated communications infrastructure.
- →Conduct system testing, performance verification, signal analysis, and fault isolation using specialized electronic test equipment.
- →Support frequency management, spectrum utilization, and communications reliability requirements.
- →Install, modify, upgrade, and commission communications systems and associated hardware.
- →Maintain communications system documentation, maintenance records, inspection reports, and configuration control records.
- →Coordinate maintenance activities with Airfield Management, Operations, ATC, and other stakeholders.
- →Provide technical support and training to users on communications equipment and systems.
- →Respond to communications outages and emergency service calls to restore mission-critical systems.
- →Ensure compliance with electrical safety, cybersecurity, environmental, and quality control requirements.
- →Support airfield operational readiness inspections and mission support activities.
Requirements

- Must have computer skills and be able to operate a variety of computer programs.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license from their home country with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date.
- Must maintain a valid passport from their home country with validity for 12 months from the wheels-up deployment date to the site.
- Ability to perform essential job duties in a deployed environment.
- Associate degree, military technical training, vocational training, or equivalent experience in Electronics, Communications, Telecommunications, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of communications systems maintenance and repair experience.
- Experience with VHF, UHF, HF, land mobile radio (LMR), dispatch, repeater, and aviation communications systems.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting electronic communications equipment and associated infrastructure.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Experience using multimeters, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, service monitors, and related test equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting, fault isolation, and technical problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting aviation, military airfield, FAA, ICAO, or DoD operations preferred.
- Technical certification in communications, electronics, radio systems, or related field preferred.
- Certified on the equipment/systems prior to being assigned work and performing maintenance and/or repair on defective equipment/systems.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as required.
