The Sourcing Specialist works to ensure that purchased parts are sourced as needed for the Vertiv Procurement team following the category strategy of the Commodity Manager. They will execute sourcing activities including local sourcing, RFQs, ERP part setup (data enrichment), part qualifications, and looking for cost reductions as part of cross-functional teams.
The objective is for this role to execute the material sourcing function of product transitions, second source needs and outsourcing requirements for Vertiv.
Responsibilities
~1 min read• Leads and executes RFQs with suppliers. Negotiate/aid in supplier negotiation process with goal of maximizing continuity of supply, minimizing lowest total cost, and optimizing quality.
• Search for and provide local/regional sourcing options to meet project requirements.
• Identify and present cost reduction opportunities for purchased items.
• Complete ERP part setup for purchased items by collecting and entering part parameters (data enrichment)
• Drives suppliers to meet requests in a timely manner.
• Provide sourcing information support to transition teams as required to meet project deadlines and targets.
• Build collaborative working relationships with other functional departments to collectively optimize business performance.
• Identify project and process metrics. Track progress and implement continuous improvement processes. Audit and assess as necessary.
Requirements
~1 min read• Experience in Purchasing & Sourcing with experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in a strategic setting in a mid to large size organization.
• A strong understanding of supply chain operations, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work well in pressure situations, present to leadership, and drive for solutions with suppliers.
• Solid business management skills and reputation as a change agent.
• Ability to communicate and train others.
• Execution oriented, with a strong sense of urgency around tangible results.
• Strong ability to organize and communicate. Use goals to guide actions and create detailed action plans and processes.
• Experience using Data analysis tools Microsoft Office Suite. Oracle and Power BI experience is preferred.
• Ability to effectively present to staff managers and executives.
• The candidate must be focused, have a strong sense of urgency, and be able to react quickly to changing situations.
• Must be receptive to direction and able to follow instructions effectively.
• Must be organized, able to manage and prioritize tasks efficiently, and maintain control over daily activities.
• BS/BA in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related area.
• Institute of Supply Management (CPSM) or ASCM (CPIM) certification preferred
