Manager, Software Engineering (Full Stack)

We are looking for a passionate hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented engineers building high performance, scalable web systems. This role requires a strong technical foundation in Angular (frontend) and Java / Go (Backend) along with solid experience in microservice and serverless architecture and Database systems.  You will lead a team of engineers contributing towards the success of Viant DSP portal. Your job will involve overseeing the design and implementation of features to the portal in collaboration with partner engineering teams and product management.

• Lead the development of high quality features based on requirements from product managers.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize platform performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Be involved in code / design on occasion, collaborating with the engineering team to contribute to critical projects, conduct code reviews, and provide technical guidance when necessary while balancing leadership responsibilities.
• Operate high-efficiency teams by implementing quality practices, ensuring speed of delivery, overseeing architecture and design, and maintaining high code quality.
• Foster a culture of continuous growth and improvement through coaching, mentoring, feedback and clear measurable outcomes.

• 8+ years of experience, including 1-2+ years’ experience managing full-stack teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, Masters preferred.
• 6+ years hands on programming capabilities in Java and/or Go Lang.
• Track record in building large, horizontally scalable distributed systems.
• Intimate knowledge of different cloud providers and services, especially AWS and GCP.
• Experience building large customer facing applications.
• Successful experience with agile development and CI/CD processes.
• Ad tech industry experience preferred.

Base compensation range: $150,000 - $200,000

In accordance with California law, the range provided is Viant’s reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role.  Final title and compensation for the position will be based on several factors including work experience and education.
