The Auditor position is responsible for reviewing and processing source data to provide accurate and timely entry to accounting systems and sub-systems. Examines financial records, verifies daily gaming revenues, and ensures strict compliance with the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) under the direction of the Casino Accounting Manager.
THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)
- Examine financial reports and transactions from slots, table games, poker, race and sports books, and the main cage
- Complete compliance checks to verify that all operations follow the Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) and Title 31 anti-money laundering guidelines
- Prepare daily operating reports, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and draft monthly or quarterly journal entries
- Facilitate regulatory support by assisting internal auditors, external auditors, and state gaming agents during official property inspections
- Assess adherence to internal control systems, company policies, and regulatory mandates like NGCB MICS and Title 31 (Anti-Money Laundering)
- Conduct discrepancy investigation to identify accounting errors, missing paperwork, or operational variances and report them to management
- Verify daily calculations and transaction reports for gaming departments (Slot drop/balances, Table Games Master Game Worksheets, Cage, and Race & Sports) and non-gaming outlets (Hotel, Food & Beverage, and Entertainment)
- Issue exception reports for non-compliance, research revenue discrepancies, and coordinate proposed adjustments with accounting supervisors
- Respond to governmental inquiries upon receipt
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual data processing system functions as required
- Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in finding and implementing solutions
- Must be attentive, helpful and courteous in all interactions with internal and external agencies
- Respond effectively to guest inquiries in a timely fashion
- Communicate all issues and/or disputes to operating departments and supervisor
- Keep supervisor abreast of any unusual events and/or deviations of policies and procedures
- Prioritize job functions to meet deadlines
- Ensure accuracy of all numbers reported including statistics
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Virgin Hotels Las Vegas' standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming in accordance with property/department guidelines
- Always comply with standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient hotel operations
- Be nice to each other and always maintain a friendly and warm demeanor
- Attend meetings/training as required by management
- Perform other duties as assigned

MUST HAVE'S
- Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must qualify for and maintain a valid Nevada Gaming License (or work card)
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English
- Strong mathematical and clerical skills with a strong attention to detail
- Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of computers by operating basic applications (Windows, Microsoft Outlook, spreadsheets, etc.)
- Possess a working knowledge of basic office equipment
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc., from various disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the need
- Ability to work with and understand financial information and data
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Must be able to multitask while prioritizing departmental functions to meet deadlines
WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE'S
- Experience or college courses in an associated field helpful
- Experience in a hotel or related field preferred
- Willingness to cross-train in other accounting or hotel related areas
- Second language
- Must be able to show initiative in job performance, including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity
THE WORKING CONDITIONS
- Sedentary work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects unaided
- Communicate clearly in verbal and written English
- Bend, squat and stretch in areas of limited space to perform cleaning, organization, and other duties
- Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, smoke, light (including flashing lights), and sound.
- Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
