Our Conservation Team plays an integral role in reducing Southwest Utah's per capita water use through grass rebates and landscape education.

General Purpose   

Performs routine data gathering and project implementation duties in support of the District’s conservation programs. Informs and educates the public about water efficiency. Learns and applies conservation program practices and techniques.


Supervision Received   

Works under the direct supervision of the Conservation Programs Coordinator 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Assists in collecting, compiling and displaying water conservation data.
  • Performs assigned research to gather necessary information for designing and implementing water conservation techniques
  • Collects data from various sources and assists in monitoring actual conservation results following program implementation
  • Carries out routine administrative assignments associated with the development and implementation of conservation programs and projects.
  • Performs internal and external residential water audits and evaluations.
  • Assists in conducting water waste investigations and enforcing city and county water waste ordinances. Assists as needed in utility processes and associated tasks. 
  • Assembles materials and responds to customer requests for conservation information from clients.
  • Researches and studies conservation information and materials to learn conservation techniques and practices.
  • Maintains records, files and supplies of materials.
  • Provides backup to other staff in the Conservation division.
  • Provides program support to the Red Hills Desert Garden, as needed.
  • Conducts educational sessions for the public.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Education and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.   
  • Two years experience in customer service, communications, landscape, irrigation, data collection, environmental assessment or related fields. 
  • OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience  

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping practices, clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work independently.  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. 

Special Qualifications: 

  • Preferred valid driver’s license for insurability under the District’s vehicle insurance policy 
  • Must be willing to take and pass a pre-employment drug test and submit to a criminal background check
