Pave Crew Roller Operator

JOB PURPOSE:

Drive a heavy rolling machine to compact earth fills, sub-grades, flexible bases, and bituminous surfaces to grade specifications and efficiently execute paving work assigned by the Foreman.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• 
  Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations; obey all DOT regulations
• 
  Complete work as assigned by the Foreman
• 
  Throughout the work process, must maintain good relations with the contractor, owner, or their delegates; assume full responsibility for equipment under own jurisdiction; maintain harmonious relations with crew members
• 
  Break down, intermediate, and finish rolling operations
• 
  Operates machine in successive overlapping passes over the surface to be compacted
• 
  Assist paving crew members with placement of materials, raking asphalt, shovels, etc.
• 
  Inspect for final quality, i.e., no step or cut marks, drainage problems, trim edges
• 
  Final inspection with Foreman for zero defects
• 
  Check fluids, belts, and systems of equipment for proper operation
• 
  Keep vehicles clean and in working order, supplies replenished daily PMs
• 
  Fuel equipment at the end of the day
• 
  Winterize watering system with anti-freeze, as needed
• 
  Watering and maintenance of spray bars, tanks, and wipers
• 
  Wear PPE as directed
• 
  Maintain a professional attitude and performance in accordance with the established personnel policies
• 
  Immediately report all injuries to management
• 
  Perform any and all tasks and duties assigned by the Foreman
