Working closely with senior leadership and technical teams, you will help tell the Whitby Wood story. Who we are, what we do, and why it matters.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys turning complex ideas into clear, engaging content and is excited by engineering, design and the built environment.
Role and responsibilities
Plan, create and manage content for the website, social media, newsletters and internal platforms, ensuring clear, engaging and accurate storytelling across all channels.
Support project and brand storytelling, including case studies, award submissions, thought‑leadership pieces and maintaining consistency in tone of voice and visual identity.
Coordinate with internal teams and external partners (designers, photographers, consultants) to gather information, develop content and maintain up‑to‑date marketing collateral, CVs and image libraries.
Monitor, analyse and report on communications performance, using insights to support continuous improvement of external and internal engagement.
Support business development activities, including bids and proposals, research on opportunities, and coordinating events, talks and conferences from planning through to follow‑up.
Assist senior leadership with the delivery of the BD and communications strategy, ensuring efficient organisation, deadline management and high‑quality outputs across all marketing and engagement initiatives.
Criteria
- Experience in a communications, marketing, or content role
- Excellent communication, presentation and storytelling skills
- Excellent written English and strong editing skills
- Ability to communicate complex or technical information clearly
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence working with multiple stakeholders and deadlines
- Pragmatic, organised, and calm under pressure
- Proficient in InDesign / Photoshop
- Familiarity with social media management and content scheduling tools
- Understanding of branding and tone of voice
- Genuine interest in sustainability and the built environment
