The Role

As Manager II, IT Infrastructure with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the global strategy, roadmap, standards and lifecycle for Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database platforms.
  • Provide clear service ownership for database engineering and operations, including availability, performance, capacity, patching, upgrades, licensing and technical debt.
  • Establish and maintain reference architectures, build standards, configuration baselines and repeatable operating procedures for on-premises, cloud and hybrid database services.
  • Lead database resilience, backup, recovery and disaster recovery requirements, ensuring dependencies, recovery objectives and test outcomes are understood and acted upon.
  • Own database security and control maturity, including privileged access, authentication, vulnerability remediation, version compliance, audit evidence and approved risk exceptions.
  • Coordinate with application owners to plan changes, resolve legacy dependencies and minimize business impact during maintenance, remediation and modernization activities.
  • Lead response to major database incidents, ensure effective technical escalation and drive corrective and preventive actions for recurring issues.
  • Define service health measures and reporting for availability, performance, capacity, risk, lifecycle, change success, incident trends and remediation progress.
  • Drive automation of database provisioning, configuration, patching, monitoring, inventory and other repeatable operational activities.
  • Improve database inventory and CMDB accuracy, clarify ownership boundaries and maintain authoritative lifecycle and support-status information.

About You 

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience. 
  • 10+ years of relevant database and infrastructure experience, including technical leadership, service ownership and delivery in complex enterprise environments. 
  • Deep experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle platform are required; Relevant Microsoft, Oracle, cloud, ITIL or security certifications are advantageous.

Technical Information:

  • Platform ownership across Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database services in on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of database architecture, high availability, replication, backup and recovery, performance, capacity, patching, upgrades and lifecycle management.
  • Working knowledge of privileged access, authentication, vulnerability remediation, security baselines, risk exceptions and audit evidence.
  • Experience establishing database engineering standards, reference patterns, operational controls, monitoring and service reporting.
  • Ability to lead globally distributed internal and partner teams and coordinate changes affecting business-critical applications.
  • Experience with automation, configuration management, CMDB quality, service management processes and vendor governance.
