The Individual Philanthropy Sector is part of WRI’s broader Global Development Program, which coordinates all fundraising for the organization. As WRI advances its comprehensive capital campaign, the Individual Philanthropy Team is central to strengthening the organization’s fundraising capacity and driving the campaign across the finish line by securing critical general and flexible support.

From principal and major gifts to mid-level and annual contributions, the team ensures WRI has the philanthropic resources needed to power its mission and achieve transformative impact. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as strategic and administrative support to the Campaign Leadership Team and Cabinet, ensuring leadership and team are fully equipped and supported in their campaign roles.
  • Working closely with Senior Advisor for Impact Philanthropy, provide strategic insight and recommendations that help sustain momentum in the campaign’s final phase.
  • Provide direction, anticipate needs, surface opportunities, and ensure leadership, staff, and Campaign Cabinet have the information and support required to advance donor strategies; track and advise on progress through each Cabinet member's campaign portfolio.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of campaign priorities, progress, and challenges, and help translate these into actionable next steps.
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate Campaign Cabinet meetings, including developing agendas, pre-read materials, and slide content.
  • Develop resources for Campaign Leadership Team and Campaign Cabinet to support their outreach efforts, including talking points, template email messages and follow-up tools.
  • Prepare campaign updates and supporting materials, including pre-read text, talking points and presentations for reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • In coordination with Director of Individual Philanthropy Services, plan, coordinate and facilitate weekly internal campaign prospect tracking meetings, including developing agendas.
  • Prepare customized donor strategy briefs and meeting materials to inform and equip WRI leadership and ambassadors for cultivation and solicitation conversations.
  • Partner closely with senior leadership to support their out-the-door donor engagement efforts, including preparing briefings, drafting donor correspondence, follow-up messages, and internal notes as needed to advance relationships and document next steps.
  • Collaborate with frontline fundraisers on moves management strategy and planning for cultivation and solicitation activities
  • Advise on donor communications and stewardship approaches to ensure consistency of messaging and alignment with campaign priorities.
  • Ensure all leadership and frontline interactions with donors are timely, well-informed, and aligned with campaign goals.
  • Provide guidance regarding ongoing communications on campaign progress to donors and prospects. Support communications for major campaign announcements, as appropriate.
  • Track engagement and ensure all moves management activity is documented and actionable.
  • Assist in preparing campaign impact and progress reports for internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Experience: You have a minimum of 10+ years full-time relevant work in fundraising, major gifts, development strategy, or a related field.
    • Experience supporting a comprehensive or capital campaign, particularly in its active or later phases.
    • Proven track record in front-line fundraising and experience engaging high-net worth individuals.
    • Strong understanding of moves-management principles, donor cultivation practices, and individualized engagement strategies.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic support to senior leaders, fundraisers, and/or volunteer stakeholders.
    • Experience handling multiple projects, setting priorities, problem-solving and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced and complex environment.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, and effectively and diplomatically with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Experience managing high-level relationships with discretion and professionalism.
    • Experience with both collaborative and independent work. 
    • Experience with and knowledge of Salesforce, Microsoft Office 365, Asana, or other project management tools.
  • Languages: Proficiency in verbal and written English
