Program Development - Power Scholar P/T Group Leader

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is one of the largest charities in the DC area. Position: Power Scholars P/T  Group Leader           Salary: $18.40 per hour     About the Position The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a Part-Time Group Leader to support the daily operations of its before- and after-school program at Seaton Elementary School, serving children in PreK-3, PreK-4, and Kindergarten. The Group Leader works with the Senior Group Leader to implement engaging, age-appropriate activities, maintain a safe and positive environment, and build strong relationships with children, families, and school staff. Key Responsibilities Assist with the daily operation of the before- and after-school program. Help plan and implement age-appropriate activities and lesson plans. Establish classroom routines, expectations, and positive behavior guidelines. Supervise children and maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. Follow emergency and safety procedures as needed. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school staff. Participate in parent/child events as required. Maintain a clean, organized classroom and ensure supplies and equipment are available. Work collaboratively with the Senior Group Leader and program staff. Schedule Monday–Friday | 3:00 PM–6:00 PM Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or GED required. Must obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within 18 months of employment. Current CPR and First Aid certification required. Physical examination and TB skin test documentation required. Must successfully complete applicable background and fingerprinting requirements. Must meet state and local childcare licensing requirements. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, families, and school staff. Positive, creative, patient, and dependable approach to working with children. Working Conditions Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to participate in games, sports, and physical activities with children. Ability to lift at least 35 pounds. Ability to actively supervise and monitor children.
