Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance Team, supporting our TI Hub. This a full-time permanent role that offers remote working, however, there may be occasional travel.

The purpose of the role is to provide financial support for the contracts served by the TI Hub, covering 4 National Highways Maintenance & Repair Contracts (Area 7,10,12 and SBIM) with a turnover of c.£100m. You would ensure that transactions are accurately recorded on a timely basis, adhering to authorisations and control protocols, prepare monthly reports and analysis for project managers. You will also ensure that management reporting fulfils prescribed internal and external reporting requirements.

The standard hours of work are based on 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

You will be responsible for:

  • Resolving invoice queries and ensuring related party transactions properly reflected or escalate any outstanding issues
  • Ensuring accurate and timely cost allocation within the relevant profit centres
  • Preparation of accruals, prepayments, and month end journals
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Assisting with preparation of year end audit requirements
  • Ensuring works orders are fully costed and reconciled at the required frequency
  • Provision of timely and accurate cost information to the commercial team to support the Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) process
  • Responsible for the completion of allocated month end activities on time and to a high degree of accuracy
  • Booking of appropriate, approved accounting adjustments as part of the stock reconciliation process
  • Completion of tasks assigned relating to the budget, reforecast or cash allocation process on time and to a high level of accuracy
  • Subject matter expert for the works orders costing process
  • Documents the processes and training materials for the processes you are assigned responsibility for

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Qualification: part qual or wishing to study for AAT / CIMA / ACCA or equivalent
  • Strong IT skills, particularly with Excel and SAP
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work towards deadlines
  • Organised with good attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Resilient and adaptable
