Position Title: Associate Attorney, Patent Litigation (2-4 years of experience)

Contract: Full-time

Location: United States of America (100% remote)

An innovative boutique law firm is looking for a junior-mid IP Litigation Associate (2-4 years of experience) to work within the IP Litigation team.

The Role:

Our hard IP litigation team requires a junior-mid attorney with patent litigation experience to join our practice specializing in representing life sciences companies, on the branded side. The ideal candidate will possess an academic background in chemistry as well as attorney experience from an AmLaw firm working with pharmaceutical/biotech clients on patent litigation cases on the branded side, particularly Hatch-Waxman cases. This opportunity would suit ambitious AmLaw attorneys looking for more first-hand experience of working directly with ex-BigLaw Partners, in an entrepreneurial, 100% remote environment.

Responsibilities:

  • An integrated member of patent litigation teams, collaborating with Partners.
  • Working with team to handle patent litigation cases in federal court.
  • Knowledge of Hatch-Waxman litigation.
  • Assist in all aspects of patent litigation cases, including legal research; drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests; taking and defending depositions; arguing discovery disputes; and participating in trial preparation.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on various patent law issues, including patent validity, infringement, and other related matters.

Qualifications and attributes:

  • 2-4 years of experience as a patent litigator
  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry (or related field).
  • Experience in Hatch-Waxman litigation preferred.
  • Admitted to a US state bar.
  • Worked for an AmLaw 200 firm.
  • Experience as clerk / intern at U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit / district court would be advantageous.
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
