Job Description

We seek a Senior Manager of Data Science to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, product managers, and operations experts to bring high-value AI enabled applications developed from insurance claims data into a live product. A focus of this role will be to deliver high quality models that pass strict performance requirements and meet or exceed AI regulations. The Senior Manager of Data Science is expected to work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders with a focus on operational execution and team management.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on guidance during the life cycle of a data science project, from data validation and feature engineering to model building, validation, deployment, and monitoring

• Coach data scientists on setting and achieving goals that are aligned with company strategy and contribute to career growth

• Hone the team’s best practices for managing data, models, and code

• Work with engineering and product teams to coordinate planning and execution on projects

• Directly manage the data science team, including hiring, training, and mentoring team members

• Ensure successful delivery of data science projects, managing resources and timelines

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience of practical experience in data science and machine learning, including deep learning and natural language processing
• 3+ years of experience as a data science manager
• Demonstrated ability to drive initiatives and manage projects requiring cross-team coordination
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Enthusiasm for identifying and solving real world problems with data and models, ideally with a background in the insurance or health care industries
• Commitment to integrity in leadership – maintaining high standards of performance while demonstrating empathy and concern for others
