POSITION – WATER/WASTE WATER ESTIMATOR – CONSTRUCTION

LOCATION – REMOTE ROLE

Role description:

You will manage the delivery of detailed and accurate estimates for a range of construction projects for . Supporting all aspects of the estimating process with the oversite of the Project Management Team. The successful candidate should be able to work independently while maintaining strong relationships, cohesion, and transparency with the project team at large and external project Teams.

Role accountabilities:

  • Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of estimates and reports as requested by the Project Manager and/or client; includes the collection of necessary cost data for conceptual and/or take-off estimating,
  • Prepare estimating procedures and overall estimating review and justification
  • Support Project Controls team in decision making
  • Work within established financial systems and budgets to produce reports and forecasts and track budgets, overseeing costing and variances to manage and control cost variables,
  • Complete technical assignments of focused scope and increasing level of difficulty,
  • Act as a project resource, completing allocated activities to meet budget, timeframe and quality objectives and meeting or exceeding client expectations,
  • Carry out investigations and analyses to support the development of technical solutions,
  • Prepare documentation and reports ensuring accuracy and compliance with requirements and relevant national standards and codes of practice,
  • Liaise with Project Managers/Team Leaders and clients to ensure effective communication on project matters,
  • Contribute to the resolution of technical issues on projects and provide technical guidance to other team members,
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design or solution,
  • Review completed engineering work to ensure it meets specified standards,
  • Build valued relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction, develop the cost management service and create new business opportunities

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Possess complex technical knowledge of water and waste water processes
  • Preferred NYC DEP experience and have knowledge of other agencies in the Tri-State area such as NYC DDC, NYPA, EDC, NYCHA etc.
  • Deep market knowledge especially in the New York area
  • Be able to read and interpret civil, process mechanical, structural, architectural, and MEP construction plans and related documents like, but not limited to: contacts, technical specifications, etc.
  • Be able to prepare cost estimates and associated basis of estimate reports throughout the life of the projects, from planning, design, and through the construction phase
  • Experienced accessing and working with risk management
  • Deep technical knowledge working with range of project software like: Sage, Bluebeam, ProEst, Other Estimating Software as well as MS Office and MS Teams
  • Strong builder of external Team relationships with a history of turning relationships into new business opportunities
  • Be a collaborative partner with internal Teams
  • Commitment to health and safety
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying)
• Relevant professional certification (i.e., CCP, CEP, CPE, MRICS or similar)
• 8 or more years’ relevant experience related to new or rehabilitation of water/wastewater infrastructure
• Relevant professional experience in a similar working environment
• Experience working with people and demonstration of leadership skills, including the ability to motivate others
• Experience building and managing relationships with internal and external Teams, including the ability to act as a trusted advisor

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $112,240 to $168,360 year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
