JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Gastroenterology Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Fredericksburg, VA Service Setting: Outpatient Coverage Type: Clinical Only Coverage Period: Sep 01, 2026 – Ongoing Shift Schedule: Mon – Fri; 7:30a – 5:00p Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered by Agency FACILITY INFORMATION EMR System: Epic Support Staff: 1 RN, 1 MA, 1 PA/NP, 1 Office Staff Hospital is stroke certifiedPRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Credentialing Timeline: 30-90 days REQUIRED PROCEDURES Upper GI endoscopy (W/biopsy, W/foreign body removal, W/fulguration of bleeder (cautery vs. laser), W/injection of varices) ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) (Diagnostic, Therapeutic, W/PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) Esophageal dilatation/manometry Esophageal manometry interpretation Small Bowel biopsy Lower GI endoscopy Sigmoidoscopy (Flexible, Rigid) Colonoscopy (W/biopsy, W/excision of polyp) Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) Liver biopsy Insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: BC Licenses: Licensed in VA Certifications: BLS, ACLS Fellowship: Required Duties & Responsibilities Provide outpatient gastroenterology clinical services. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Collaborate with support staff including RNs, MAs, and PA/NPs. Supervise advanced practice providers as needed Provide resident and/or teaching supervision Maintain accurate patient records within the Epic EMR system. Ensure high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting.
