What We Offer
~1 min read- Spots mistakes or inconsistencies in medical documentation and corrects information to reduce errors.
- Ensures physician signs off on addenda and completes patient charts.
- Write reports and correspondence, demonstrating proficiency in typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication.
- Listens to complex medical information and summarizes it clearly and concisely.
- Translates medical abbreviations into their expanded forms and maintains confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintains and coordinates multiple forms and paper documentation related to patient care, ensuring organizational ability.
- Documents patient medical history, physical exams, procedures, treatments, and patient education during medical visits.
- Records physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions, and instructions for patient or family self-care and follow-up.
- Ensures physician authenticates all documentation before leaving the patient care area.
- Prepares referral letters as directed by the physician and ensures they are mailed or faxed daily with pertinent reports or tests attached.
- Researches contact information for referring physicians and coordinate referrals.
- Prepares procedure reports and transcribes results of labs, x-rays, or other tests, alerting the physician when the chart is incomplete.
- Other duties as assigned.
Transcription skills preferred, or two-year degree in healthcare/ HIM or more experience in a medical office. [Required]
2+ experience in a medical office. [Required]
Experience with transcription software and medical coding training or certification [Preferred]
American Association Medical Assistants (CMA) [Preferred] OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) [Preferred] OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) [Preferred] OR National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) [Preferred] OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) [Preferred] OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) [Preferred]
Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Preferred]
