About the Role
~1 min readWe are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to become a dedicated member of the estimating team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong U.S. construction estimating experience who is eager to combine traditional estimating expertise with cutting-edge AI technology.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for government, federal, and commercial construction projects while utilizing AI-powered workflows to significantly improve estimating speed and efficiency. You'll work closely with project leadership, vendors, and subcontractors to produce competitive, well-supported bids.
Responsibilities

Prepare detailed construction estimates for U.S. government, federal, commercial, and public-sector projects.

Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify project requirements.

Perform quantity takeoffs using industry-standard estimating software and AI-assisted workflows.

Utilize AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude to accelerate estimating, data extraction, and project analysis.

Build detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.

Generate material takeoffs and identify missing pricing information.
- →
Contact vendors and suppliers to obtain current material pricing and quotations.

Coordinate with subcontractors and trade partners to validate pricing and market conditions before bid submission.

Research labor costs using industry cost databases and guidebooks.

Prepare organized Excel spreadsheets containing takeoffs, pricing, vendor information, and cost breakdowns.

Maintain estimated accuracy within established project targets.

Continuously improve estimating workflows using AI and automation tools.
Requirements
~1 min read3–8+ years of construction estimating experience.
Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
Proven experience estimating U.S. construction projects.
Experience estimating commercial, public-sector, or government construction projects.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bid packages.
Proficiency with estimating software such as:
PlanSwift
Bluebeam
On-Screen Takeoff (OST)
Similar estimating platforms
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Comfortable communicating directly with U.S.-based vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple estimates while meeting deadlines.
Experience estimating U.S. government or federal construction contracts.
Experience working with AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT.
Interest in adopting AI-assisted estimating workflows.
Familiarity with construction cost databases and labor guidebooks.
Experience coordinating vendor pricing and subcontractor buy-outs.
