Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Site Services Operative to join our dedicated Facilities team based at our Lea Green site in St Helens.

This is a key, hands-on role where you will play a vital part in keeping our site running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Working as part of our supportive Facilities function, you will cover a varied mix of general maintenance, housekeeping, logistics support, and site operations. No two days are quite the same, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied routine, taking pride in their environment, and working collaboratively with wider laboratory and safety teams.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE 

Essential

• A valid, current clean UK driving licence (daily travel between North West sites will be required). 
• Strong self-motivation and the ability to work effectively unsupervised. 
• Outstanding attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards. 
• Flexible working attitude, with a willingness to participate in an out-of-hours call-out system when needed (by mutual consent). 
• High regard for health, safety, and environmental procedures. 

Required Competencies

• Self-Management: Highly organized with the ability to manage daily tasks independently and prioritize workload efficiently. 
• Adaptability & Versatility: Comfortable switching between indoor, outdoor, administrative, and maintenance tasks throughout the day. 
• Collaboration & Communication: Works seamlessly alongside Facilities, Laboratory, and Health & Safety teams to support site needs. 

Required Work Experience

• Practical experience handling general maintenance, repairs, or facilities upkeep tasks. 
• Experience using computerised management systems (e.g., CMMS systems for tracking stock/spares) is desirable. 
• Background operating a Forklift Truck (loading/unloading deliveries and stock movement) is desirable. 
• Experience in safe waste handling and site lock-up procedures. 

Required Qualifications 

• GCSE English and Maths (Grade A*–C / 9–4) or equivalent. 
• Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence is desirable (or willingness to train).
