Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage a geographic territory and meet established recruitment goals.
- Manage a responsibility including but not limited to scholarship program management, student worker management, tour guide training, ZeeMee management or liaison to Academic units or Athletic teams.
- The Admissions Counselor will become knowledgeable of university programs and proficient in explaining all aspects of the enrollment process. Assist students and families with all aspects of the enrollment process to the University ( e.g., college selection process, application review, and financial aid). Communication with prospective students via telephone, email, and written correspondence is expected. Evening work is required.
- Perform recruitment travel. Responsibilities include attending college fairs and performing high school recruitment visits and coordinating off-campus recruitment events. Evening/ weekend work and overnight travel is required.
- Review applications and make decisions.
- Provide interviews and present admissions information sessions on-campus, off-campus, and virtually as needed. Weekend work is required.
- Attend and assist with recruitment events on campus and off campus (e.g., open houses). Weekend work is required.
- The Admissions Counselor will maintain a professional appearance and attitude and will develop and maintain positive relations with office co-workers and the larger University community. Teamwork in the Admissions Office is essential; job duties may cross lines with other responsibilities in the office
- Provide analysis of recruitment territory regularly to evaluate effectiveness and inform strategic enhancements.
- Regularly assess recruitment strategy to ensure consistency, accuracy, and strong institutional storytelling.
- Pursue ongoing professional development through training workshops, staff retreats, professional conferences and remain current with national trends and best practices in enrollment engagement.
- Experience in admissions, enrollment management, campus visits, or student experience.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, students, and families.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and student-centered approach.
- Creative problem solver with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in high-pressure environments.
- Working knowledge of Slate and CRM systems preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Formal Education:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Experience:
- Successful candidate will have at least one year of experience in admissions or customer service experience, ideally in a higher education capacity.
- Essential Functions:
- With or without reasonable accommodations the incumbent must be able to read and write and speak the English language at a college level, be capable of performing sometimes complex mathematical calculations, statistical calculations and other higher mathematical operations, must be able to communicate with all levels of the institution in written and spoken form. The individual must be able to work independently. The ability to maintain regular and prompt attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position. Other essential functions may be required. A valid driver's license is required.
The position may require the incumbent to walk outdoors in all types of weather to other buildings or offices located on the campus. The Campus is located in an area that contains numerous hills and slopes and may not always be fully accessible for mobility impaired individuals.
