The American Lung Association has an excellent opportunity for a Coordinator, Health Promotions. Working as a member of the Health Promotions department, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.

The Coordinator, Health Promotions will coordinate, implement, and evaluate lung health programs throughout Arizona and other assigned locations including, but not limited to, supporting youth tobacco coalition technical assistance work. This position is grant funded.
 

The position is located at the American Lung Association’s Phoenix, Arizona office and will be a hybrid of in-person and virtual work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the project manager to develop, implement and evaluate public health education programs with specific focus on youth and tobacco working with youth coalitions throughout the state.
  • Build, maintain and cultivate relationships with funders, facilitators, Coalition Adult Coordinators, students, and schools to encourage program delivery and coalition sustainability as well as growth across Arizona. This includes sharing all American Lung Association programs and tools including Freedom From Smoking, NOT/NOT for me, INDEPTH/INDEPTH Online, Asthma Basics, Tobacco Basics, etc. within assigned territory.
  • Work with manager to coordinate all aspects of grant project activities, including trainings, presentations, education health fairs, etc. and serve as lead for these activities.
  • Help to develop and effectively utilize timelines and work plans to ensure completion of program/contract deliverables.
  • Explore opportunities to connect and enhance collaborations throughout the Lung Association
  • Contribute to quarterly progress reports and monthly reporting of grant activities.
  • Research and implement best practices for education/prevention of tobacco use and working with youth and youth coalitions within priority populations.
  • Collaborate with project director in growing American Lung Association programs and local youth coalitions within assigned territory.
  • Provide support for Arizona program and development events, such as LUNG FORCE Walk, Stair Climb, Turquoise Takeover, and other related activities.
  • Actively participate in local coalitions identified as important/necessary by the Health Promotions team.
  • Participate on national American Lung Association workgroups and committees as requested.
  • Provide support for annual report, awards, grants, and other activities assigned.
  • Participate in and support community related programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public health or related field preferred.
  • Some experience in public health or related field preferred.
  • Experience in coalition building and community health development preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to clearly articulate the mission and vision of the ALA.
  • Strong project management skills in order to research, develop, and execute specific program deliverables.
  • Ability to develop/maintain relationships with schools, student coalitions, medical professionals, public health community, and members of the public.
  • Computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lift approximately 25 lbs.
  • Must have a valid Driver's license and your own reliable transportation with the ability to travel within assigned area 5% of the time for meetings and conferences, as well as the flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required.
  • Required to travel statewide for providing technical assistance, meetings and conferences as required by assigned grants.
  • Consistent with its mission, the American Lung Association maintains a smoke-free workplace; all employees must abstain from tobacco use in any form, including vaping.
