The American Lung Association has an excellent opportunity for a Manager, Nationwide Health Promotions Working as a member of the Health Promotions department, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.

The Manager is responsible for coordinating and assisting the nationwide implementation, support and evaluation of the nationwide Adult Asthma Education portfolio of programs and initiatives (including the Breathe Well, Live Well Signature Program), as well as grant management as part of the National Asthma Team.

Nationwide: If near an office location, this role will be hybrid and require a minimum of two days per week in the office. We are also considering remote applicants and encourage candidates in any location in the United States to apply.

Responsibilities

→Provide asthma education program support.
→Obtain and maintain active NBRC- Asthma Educator Specialist (AE-C) certification.
→Lead and coordinate adult asthma (Breathe Well, Live Well) nationwide workgroups, committees and staff needs.
→Work with the national asthma team to support, develop, implement and evaluate asthma programs. Manage and lead nationwide signature program (Breathe Well, Live Well all modalities) including core and grant funded projects, partnerships, staff engagement and innovation opportunities.
→Provide team leadership and project coordination for the funded projects as assigned including the development, implementation and evaluation of resources and assets. (ex: new projects, assets, marcomm strategies and webinars).
→Develop and effectively utilize timelines and work plans to ensure completion of deliverables.
→Assist with the review and evaluation of current nationwide asthma programming. Work with the asthma team to improve curriculum, develop materials, and support field staff.
→Train and provide technical assistance to staff and volunteers on asthma curriculums and manage their efforts to implement curriculum in the community. (Asthma Basics, Open Airways for Schools, Kickin Asthma, Breathe Well, Live Well and Adult Asthma resources)
→Cultivate, maintain and expand nationwide and state relationships with funders, facilitators, and community partners, patient organizations and other public or private agencies to encourage program delivery, sustainability for American Lung Association signature programs.
→Contribute to development and tracking of grant deliverables, job targets, budgets and milestones capturing project metrics to monitor program success and make program improvements.
→Collaborate with all departments to ensure programs have access to available resources; such as, digital, communications, marketing, development and mission.
→Assist with the review and oversight of asthma information on public facing materials and program content including online (e.g., Lung.org, Inspire) and print publications.
→Research and implement best practices for asthma programs within priority populations.
→Collaborate with nationwide asthma team and HP teams to grow and expand programs throughout the country.
→Contribute to monthly-quarterly-annual progress reports of grant activities and program metrics.
→Select and participate in local, state and national professional development learning opportunities to maintain and increase skills and knowledge related to job requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in public health or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience developing and implementing community awareness, education, and programs specifically related to areas of public health.
Prior experience in public health, health education, respiratory disease/patient service, public policy, and/or advocacy.
Experience engaging underserved communities, addressing barriers to access and participation, and designing programs that effectively reach populations disproportionately impacted by lung disease.
Asthma Educator Specialist (AE-C), Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Registered Nurse license (RN) or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) a plus.
Ability to obtain and maintain the NBRC Asthma Educator Specialist (AE-C) within one year of hire required.
Must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills both written and oral.
Able to work with minimum direct supervision, make decisions, and take initiative.
Ability to think strategically and execute detailed plans to completion.
Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Willingness to travel for meetings and conferences as opportunities arise.
Ability to lift approximately 25 lbs. when assisting with local events.
Flexibility to work irregular hours from time to time, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required. Must have a valid Driver’s license.
Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Teams, Office, data, online learning platforms and constituent management systems.
