The American Lung Association has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Director, Nationwide Corporate Relations. Working as a member of the Development department, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.

The Senior Director, Nationwide Corporate Relations is a strategic and collaborative leader responsible for driving unrestricted revenue and grant growth through innovative corporate partnerships, cross-functional team alignment, and field integration. As a key leader within a newly unified Development team, this role will build and execute a national strategy to identify, secure, and steward high-impact partnerships aligned with the American Lung Association’s mission priorities.
 
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in corporate fundraising, a strong track record of building multimillion-dollar partnerships, and the ability to lead with influence across a matrixed national organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the corporate development function nationally, bringing together national and field teams to operate as a cohesive unit focused on revenue growth and mission alignment.
  • Serve as a central connector across Development to drive collaboration, resource sharing, and integration across events, corporate giving, grants, and campaigns.
  • Oversee and mentor the Director, Unrestricted Revenue & Field Partnerships to ensure coordinated partnership strategies and seamless execution across all levels.
  • Work with the VP Nationwide Corporate and Foundation Relations to build internal and external strategy for the nationwide LungLove cause marketing platform
  • Manage a personal portfolio of corporate prospects and partners with a goal of securing six- and seven-figure investments.
  • Develop and secure long-term, multi-dimensional partnerships through corporate grants, cause marketing, sponsorships, licensing, and employee engagement.
  • Identify and cultivate a robust pipeline of new corporate prospects and steward relationships from initial engagement through renewal and expansion.
  • Champion the growth of unrestricted revenue across the Development team, with a particular focus on expanding participation in cause campaigns like LungLove.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Health Promotions, Advocacy, and Regional teams to build compelling proposals and integrated campaigns.
  • Position the American Lung Association as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to corporate funders.
  • Ensure fulfillment of deliverables and provide exceptional stewardship to drive long-term engagement.
  • Partner with Finance and Legal teams to manage contracts, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Work with national and regional leadership to align corporate strategies with organizational goals and emerging mission priorities.
  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities in coordination with the VP and Chief Development Officer.
  • Stay abreast of fundraising trends and competitive landscape to ensure innovation and relevance in ALA’s corporate fundraising approach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; business, marketing, or nonprofit management preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in corporate fundraising or cause partnership development, preferably in a national nonprofit
  • Proven ability to close six- and seven-figure partnerships and secure unrestricted revenue
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels
  • Experience developing compelling proposals and sales materials
  • Ability to lead through collaboration and manage across teams and functions
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and results-driven
  • Experience managing or mentoring staff a plus
  • Passion for the mission of the American Lung Association
  • Computer literate with a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. 
  • Must have the ability to travel within assigned area 40% of the time for meetings and conferences, as needed. 
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
