Job Summary
Walkhome service staff, upon being hired, must obtain a valid police check.Walkhome was established in 1988 as a safety service with a mandate of increasing the accessibility and safety of the Queen's campus and surrounding vicinity. Since then, it has quickly developed into one of the most widely known and respected student services at Queen's and is the Alma Mater Society's single largest employer.Walkhome offers Queen's students, staff/faculty, and the Kingston community anonymous, confidential, and discreet walks anywhere within our boundaries. Walks can be requested by visiting the Walkhome kiosk located on the 1st floor of the Queen's Centre, calling our phone number (613-533-9255), or using the live chat on our website (walkhome.ca). Our staff do not wear any clothing that identifies them as Walkhome and patrons are not required to disclose any information about their identity (ex: name, address, etc.) if they do not feel comfortable doing so. During Daylight Savings, Walkhome operates from 8 PM – 2 AM, Sunday – Wednesday and 8 PM – 3 AM, Thursday – Saturday. After Daylight Savings (during winter months), Walkhome opens at 7 PM instead of 8 PM.

Job Duties
Attend all training sessions to become familiar with the service and learn and adhere to the general operations of the service
Provide a safe and confidential service to patrons by providing walks in teams of two to their destination in any weather (provided the weather is deemed safe by the Manager on Duty/Head Manager)
Maintain timely communication with direct supervisor
Be an ambassador for Walkhome on and off shift, helping to promote the usefulness and inclusivity of the service
Complete all assigned shifts efficiently and attentively
Always maintain a professional atmosphere, which includes not using cell phones or headphones at any time while on-shift
Attend and fully participate in all in- person and virtual meetings
Respect and adhere to company policies, procedures and ethical standards
Strive to foster a warm, comfortable and respectful atmosphere for all
Always serve as a representative of the AMS and its mission statement
Complete other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Maintaining a professional demeanor and understanding and respecting boundaries
Work Conditions
Flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physically demanding working conditions including walking and standing
Interaction with employees, management and the Queen’s community
