General Volunteers Reports To Social Issues Commissioners Job Description The Social Issues Commission (SIC) Volunteer plays an integral role in supporting the Commission's advocacy, programming, and operational initiatives throughout the academic year. Working approximately 5 hours per week, volunteers collaborate closely with the two Social Issues Commissioners, the REC Coordinator, Marketing Deputy, and the broader Commission team to advance equity, accessibility, diversity, inclusion, and social justice initiatives across campus. Volunteers will be assigned to work primarily under one of the Commission's portfolio leads, the Black Leadership Lead (BLL), Queer Initiatives Lead (QIL), Accessibility Initiatives Lead (AIL), or Indigenous Initiatives Lead (IIL), while also contributing to Commission-wide projects and events. Job Duties Supporting the planning and execution of Commission events, campaigns, workshops, and awareness initiatives.    Assisting with research, resource development, outreach, and administrative tasks related to portfolio priorities.    Collaborating with the REC Coordinator and Marketing Deputy to promote events and increase student engagement.    Attending Commission meetings, trainings, and volunteer development opportunities.    Building relationships with student groups, campus partners, and community organizations.    Contributing ideas that strengthen equity, accessibility, diversity, inclusion, and belonging within the Queen's community.     Providing general operational support for Commission initiatives as needed.    This position is ideal for students who are passionate about community engagement, advocacy, event planning, leadership, and creating a more inclusive campus. Volunteers will gain valuable experience working within student governance, collaborating with a diverse team, and supporting initiatives that have a meaningful impact on the Queen's community.
