Arago is an AI and computer hardware company whose mission is to drive the course of history forward. We do so by accelerating breakthroughs at the intersection of AI and semiconductors.

Founded in 2024 by AI researchers and physicists with deep expertise in photonics, electronics, software, mathematics, and machine learning, Arago brings together a lean team of engineers and scientists from the world’s top companies and research labs.

Composed of nine nationalities and operating from hubs in France, North America, and Israel, we believe in great science and fast achievements. Our work is guided by these core principles:

  1. Do great things: we deliver work we’re proud to sign our name to.

  2. High velocity: speed matters. We move quickly, one step at a time.

  3. One unit: we’re all in this together, with relationships grounded in trust, respect, and camaraderie.

Arago is backed by executives from Apple, Arm, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Hugging Face, as well as prominent US and European deeptech venture firms and exited founders.

Responsibilities

What you'll do As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will design, simulate, prototype, and industrialize the mechanical systems that house Arago's next-generation optical AI accelerator boards. From server tray design and thermal management to custom mounts for our optical and PCB teams, you will be the hands-on builder who turns engineering requirements into physical reality, using both your CAD expertise and our in-house 3D printer and CNC machine.

  • Design metal sheet parts and mechanical assemblies for server trays hosting Arago's ML accelerator boards.

  • Integrate off-the-shelf components such as motherboards, fans, and PSUs into custom server tray designs.

  • Perform thermal simulations to validate designs before prototyping.

  • Design mounts and casings to support the optical and PCB teams' hardware.

  • Prototype designs using our in-house 3D printer and CNC machine, and iterate rapidly.

  • Manage relationships with external suppliers and design houses, from initial brief to supply follow-up.

  • Collaborate closely with PCB, optical, and software teams to align mechanical specifications across domains.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent.

  • Experience with thermal simulation tools such as COMSOL or ANSYS.

  • Hands-on experience with metal sheet design, fabrication processes, and mechanical assembly.

  • Familiarity with server hardware components like motherboards, fans, PSUs and their integration constraints.

  • Experience working with external suppliers and design houses, including order management and supply follow-up.

  • Experience with in-house prototyping tools like 3D printing and CNC machining.

  • Familiarity with thermal management for high-power electronics.

  • Language: English at a proficient level. French is a plus.
