Physical Education Teacher -St. Rose School
Quick Summary
The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for providing developmentally appropriate physical education instruction for students in grades PreK-8 while also supporting students and teachers through resource and intervention services. The individual will promote physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, healthy lifestyles, and positive character development within the Catholic mission of St. Rose of Lima Catholic School. The tacher is responsible for:
1. Planning and providing engaging, developmentally appropriate physical education lessons for PreK-8 students.
2. Teach fundamental motor skills, fitness, movement, sports skills, and lifelong healthy habits.
3. Promote teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, perseverance, responsibility, and respect.
4. Adapt activities to meet the physical, developmental, and individual needs of students.
5. Maintain a safe, organized, and positive physical education environment.
6. Establish and communicate clear expectations for safety, participation, and sportsmanship.
7. Organize and assist with school athletic activities, field days, and other physical fitness events as assigned.
8.Maintain and properly care for physical education equipment and facilities.
9. Communicate with parents, teachers, and administration regarding student progress or concerns when appropriate.
The employee must be able to:
Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the school day.
Participate in and demonstrate physical activities when appropriate.
Safely supervise students during physical education activities.
Lift and move equipment and supplies as needed.
Respond appropriately to student safety and emergency situations.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Education, or a related field preferred.
2. Indiana teaching license appropriate for the position preferred.
3. Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred.
4. Experience providing academic intervention or resource support preferred.
5. Strong classroom management and communication skills.
6. Ability to differentiate instruction and support students with diverse learning needs.
7. Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
