Senior API Developer - Contract

This is a remote, contract opportunity for one of Arctiq’s clients. This team works CST hours.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior API Developer with strong expertise in PHP, Python, and Oracle Database development to design, develop, and maintain scalable integration solutions and enterprise-grade APIs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building secure, high-performance APIs, integrating with internal and third-party systems, and working within complex enterprise environments.

This role requires a strong understanding of backend development, database design, system integrations, and API lifecycle management.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using PHP and Python.
• Build scalable integration solutions between enterprise applications, databases, and third-party platforms.
• Develop and optimize Oracle database objects including tables, views, stored procedures, packages, and functions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and development teams to gather requirements and design technical solutions.
• Create and maintain API documentation, technical specifications, and integration guides.
• Implement security best practices including authentication, authorization, encryption, and data protection.
• Monitor API performance and troubleshoot production issues to ensure system reliability and uptime.
• Optimize application and database performance through efficient coding practices and query tuning.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design sessions.
• Support CI/CD processes and contribute to automated testing and deployment initiatives.
• Work closely with QA teams to ensure quality standards and successful production releases.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience developing APIs and backend services using PHP and Python.
• Extensive experience working with Oracle databases, including SQL and PL/SQL development.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and web services.
• Strong understanding of API security standards, including OAuth, JWT, SSL/TLS, and authentication frameworks.
