The Medical Lab Scientist I is responsible for performing lab tests and analyses to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The MLS I performs clinical testing in at least two of the following departments: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, or Microbiology. Team members working second or third shifts must be competent in all areas mentioned above. The MLS I is responsible for operating laboratory equipment, preparing specimens, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory, Chemical, or Biological Science
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution that either includes, or is accompanied by, the required coursework in medical laboratory or biological sciences, and laboratory training and/or equivalent experience as defined in 42 CFR §493.1423 for personnel performing high complexity testing.
  • Certification as a Medical Lab Scientist or eligible for certification to be obtained within 12 months of date of hire.

  • Master's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory, Chemical, or Biological Science
  • Accurate performance and collection of tests while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work different shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.
