~1 min readThe Senior Tax Analyst is a critical contributor to Avalara for Hospitality (AFH), supporting enterprise-level customers with complex, high-liability indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. AFH supports some of Avalara’s largest customers, where accuracy, timeliness, and risk mitigation directly impact revenue retention and brand trust.
As AFH continues to scale in complexity and transaction volume—particularly with Online Travel Agencies and Hotel Management Groups—this role ensures accurate multi-jurisdictional filings, reduces compliance risk, and strengthens enterprise customer confidence. This position directly protects customer revenue, mitigates tax exposure, and supports Avalara’s AI-first operational strategy.

~1 min read- Own end-to-end preparation and filing of multi-jurisdiction indirect tax returns, ensuring 100% on-time submission aligned to SLAs.
- Serve as primary compliance contact for assigned enterprise customers.
- Analyze transactional data to identify discrepancies or filing risks prior to submission.
- Complete month-end reconciliations to align reported liability with customer expectations.
- Resolve advanced customer inquiries and tax notices with minimal supervision.
- Execute quality assurance reviews related to tax content and jurisdictional updates.
- Improve cycle time, accuracy, and scalability through process and technology enhancements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to strengthen compliance execution and customer experience.
- Independently manage assigned enterprise customers with minimal escalation.
- Achieve consistent 100% on-time filing performance.
- Maintain high accuracy rates with reduced rework or notice volume.
- Implement at least one documented AI-driven workflow improvement.
- Reduce manual review time per filing cycle while maintaining quality.
- Demonstrate strong working knowledge of AvaTax and Returns Console.
- Successfully onboard smaller new customers independently.
