As a Senior Backend Developer at Awarri, you will play a vital role in building and maintaining robust backend systems that power our innovative AI and machine learning platforms, Large Language Models. You will help design scalable and efficient server-side architecture to support data-driven AI models, real-time interactions, and secure integrations. By collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, your work will directly impact Awarri's mission of advancing AI for cultural preservation, inclusivity, and societal progress across Africa.

Responsibilities

→Backend Development:

→Design, develop, and maintain scalable server-side logic and architectures.
→Implement efficient and reusable code for processing large datasets and managing complex AI workflows.
→Build and optimize APIs for data ingestion, retrieval, and integration with AI models.

→Data and AI Integration:

→Work with data pipelines to handle large-scale text, multimedia, and linguistic datasets for training and serving AI models.
→Develop systems to integrate and deploy AI models seamlessly within backend architectures.

→Real-Time Communication and Streaming:

→Implement WebRTC and WebSocket protocols for real-time data exchange and communication.
→Support video and audio streaming features to enhance interactive AI applications.

→Cloud and Infrastructure Management:

→Design and maintain backend systems on cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
→Ensure backend solutions are robust, scalable, and optimized for performance.

→Security and Best Practices:

→Implement security and data protection measures to safeguard sensitive data.
→Follow industry best practices for data security, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.

→Collaboration:

→Partner with frontend developers and AI researchers to design cohesive systems and ensure seamless user experiences.
→Participate in architectural discussions to determine optimal solutions for product development.

Backend Development:

At least 5 years of experience as a Backend Developer or in a similar role.

Cloud and Infrastructure:

Solid working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Proficiency in containerization using Docker.

Real-Time and AI Expertise:

Experience with AI integration, data pipelines, and managing large datasets.
Proficiency in streaming technologies, including WebRTC and WebSocket.

Security and Networking:

Strong understanding of network security practices and implementing secure systems.
Familiarity with best practices for secure data handling and infrastructure management.
