This team plays a key role in launching and improving manufacturing processes that support product quality, safety, efficiency, and long-term operational performance. The environment is hands-on, collaborative, and centered around continuous improvement, standardized processes, and cross-functional execution across engineering, production, safety, quality, and external partners.
This is a fully onsite, long-term contract opportunity supporting launch activity and manufacturing process development in Columbus, Indiana. The assignment is expected to run for one year, with potential for extension based on business needs. The schedule will be split, with the first half of the assignment on day shift and the second half on night shift.
- Lead manufacturing process development from concept through launch, ensuring production processes align with safety, quality, cost, and business goals.
- Support VPI and launch activities by developing, validating, and improving manufacturing methods, workstations, tooling, and equipment.
- Apply advanced manufacturing engineering principles to optimize equipment performance and support scalable production.
- Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements to ensure manufacturing processes meet product design intent.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, business leaders, production stakeholders, and external resources to keep project deliverables on track.
- Drive continuous improvement using structured problem-solving, standardized documentation, and data-driven decisions.
- Serve as a technical resource by coaching stakeholders, sharing manufacturing expertise, and strengthening team capability.
- Champion safe, ergonomic, and efficient workstation and process design.
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a hands-on production or launch environment.
- Must have experience with Fanuc HandlingTool or ArcTool.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience supporting launch activity, process development, equipment selection, tooling, and manufacturing documentation.
- Strong continuous improvement mindset with experience improving productivity, quality, waste reduction, and cost efficiency.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, safety, quality, and external partners.
- Must be comfortable working fully onsite and able to support a split-shift schedule across the assignment.
