Working within the IT Project, Information & Data team, this role acts as the link between Project Management and IT, ensuring project management systems, tools and processes are effectively supported and continuously improved across the business. The SME provides specialist guidance to users, supports system enhancements and change initiatives, helps resolve issues, and works closely with stakeholders to embed new ways of working.

  • The Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) within Business Capability will represent Project Management area of expertise and report to the Business Capability Lead (BCL)
  • A professional with extensive knowledge of the process, procedures, systems, toolsets and ways of working for Project Management, within the business, gained through experience
  • Supporting the BCLs and in some case be responsible for the compilation and execution of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scripts, scenarios, evidence and sign off.
  • Supporting the Early Life Support (ELS), incident/defect resolution and new demands including design, build & test
  • Offering business wide support and advice on the applicable functional area
  • A deep understanding of the project management functional area of the Business including its processes, the toolsets and connectivity within the systems
  • Strong understanding of project management systems, processes and data, with the ability to analyse issues, identify improvements and work effectively with stakeholders to implement solutions across the business
  • Experience of MSPS (Microsoft Project Server) and working knowledge of SAP
  • Strong attention to details, problem-solving techniques and understanding of policies/processes within the functional area

The team is a cross functional team with 50-60 people and sits centrally within Defence Solutions - Maritime Services ensuring all areas of the Business are covered and supported with any IT system change that needs to be embedded. They also support data changes and offer advice and guidance to Business users about core system processes, enhancements and data visualisation.
