Responsibilities

Performs data entry of initial voter registration application information, returned voter registration certificate data and updated information such as address or name changes

Scans, indexes and files new applications, changes, rejections, confirmation cards and statements of residence
- →
Answers questions regarding voter registration procedures and laws for the public in person and by telephone
- →
Prepares and mails voter registration certifications to registered voters
- →
Prepares and mails voter registration cancellations by constituent request and/or notification of change of address to another county
- →
Answers questions regarding provisional procedures for early voting and Election Day judges
- →
Assists walk-in customers with questions concerning voter registration procedures and review/check-out of voter lists
- →
Accepts payments made for department service fees
- →
Assists in organizing and separating voter registration lists by Commissioners precinct, polling location and ballot style for election judges

May assist with voter registration drive deputations and presentations

Performs related duties as required
Requirements
~1 min readGraduation from High School or a General Education Development (GED) certificate
Knowledge of general office procedures
Good knowledge of the Texas Election Code; good knowledge of voter registration and voter eligibility requirements
Skill in communicating effectively with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy, both verbally and in writing
Ability to accurately enter data; ability to prepare accurate information under mandated time constraints; Ability to maintain numeric filing systems; ability to perform mathematical calculations; ability to respond effectively to questions; ability to compile data; ability to operate computer terminal, typewriter and basic office equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, temporary employees and the public
Acts in the name of the Elections Administrator and shall perform official acts as may be lawfully done and performed by such Elections Administrator in person, pursuant to Sections 31.035, 31.039 and 31.040 of the Texas Election Code
Must attend election judge certification training
Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver's license
Must have available transportation during entire workday
Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation
Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
Required to work overtime during election preparations
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
