Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Responsible for the full-process design, optimization, and implementation of data center thermal management, including system cooling solution planning, system design planning, server liquid cooling system design, HVAC construction drawing development, and the selection of cooling equipment, ensuring the system's safe, efficient, and compliant operation.
- →Proficient in liquid cooling architectures for data centers (such as CDU + secondary piping architecture, cold plate liquid cooling architecture, loop piping architecture, dry cooler/chiller-to-precision air-conditioning cold source-end architecture). Able to independently complete the heat load calculation, system design, and solution verification for a data center cooling system.
- →Responsible for the design and review of HVAC water systems, air systems, equipment layout plans, and system diagrams, with rational planning of piping routes and valve component layouts. Ensure construction feasibility, operational and maintenance convenience, and space utilization efficiency, selecting appropriate HVAC equipment to meet the high-density cooling needs of the data center.
- →Responsible for the design of water supply and drainage systems in the data center, ensuring compliance with relevant data center regulations and standards.
- →Coordinate with construction teams and equipment suppliers to conduct technical handovers, supervise on-site construction, resolve HVAC/water supply and drainage-related technical issues during construction, ensure construction quality and progress, and participate in HVAC/water system commissioning and acceptance.
- →Strictly adhere to relevant standards and regulations (such as GB 50174 "Data Center Design Specifications," GB 50736-2012 "Design Standards for Civil Building HVAC Systems," ASHRAE Standard 90.4-2022, Uniform Plumbing Code, etc.) to ensure all design outputs are compliant.
- Educational Background and Professional Experience
- Bachelor's degree or above in Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering, Building Environment and Equipment Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or related majors.
- At least 5 years of experience in HVAC system design/operation and maintenance, with priority given to candidates with large-scale data center projects, U.S. construction projects, or experience in prefabricated building projects. - Core Skills (Essential)
- Proficient in the design, operation, and maintenance of HVAC/plumbing systems.
- Expertise in common data center cooling architectures and capable of independently completing solution designs and construction drawing development (proficient in CAD drawing software).
- Skilled in deepening designs, including HVAC layouts, pipeline topology, and routing planning, with an ability to optimize pipe routes and airflow layouts. Capable of design refinement and offering technical guidance during on-site construction.
- Familiar with data center PUE/WUE concepts and capable of independently performing cooling and heating load calculations, pipe hydraulic calculations, and HVAC equipment selection.
- Able to independently complete HVAC/plumbing system debugging, identify and mitigate failure risks. - Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with ASHRAE standards and the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), with preference given to candidates with HVAC system design/operation experience in U.S. construction projects.
- Candidates with certifications such as Registered HVAC Engineer, First-Class Construction Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical), or PMP (Project Management Professional) are preferred.
- Experience in energy simulation, airflow simulation, pipe hydraulic calculations, and heat transfer modeling is a plus.
- Priority given to candidates with experience in data center HVAC system debugging and acceptance testing, fault emergency handling, and familiarity with key equipment such as chillers, pumps, cooling towers/dry coolers, and CDUs.
- Strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., owners, supervisors, construction teams, suppliers). - Personal Traits
- Demonstrates strong responsibility, execution capability, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
- Possesses a meticulous logical mindset and strong problem-solving abilities, capable of responding quickly to and resolving technical challenges in the design, construction, and operation and maintenance phases of HVAC/plumbing systems.
- Exhibits solid communication skills and team collaboration spirit, able to clearly convey technical requirements, conduct technical briefings, and assist the team in project implementation.
- Proactively learns new industry technologies and standards, keeps up with developments in data center thermal management, and consistently improves technical capabilities.
