Senior Systems Engineer
Quick Summary
This position may require an active TS/SCI Clearance. Current clearance holders are strongly encouraged to apply. If you don't currently hold one,
Senior Systems Engineer
Why This Role Matters
The Senior Systems Engineer on the TacSRT mission turns commercial space capability into something a combatant commander can actually use — under deadline, at classification, with the tasking already moving. You own Operational Planning Products end to end: scoping the request, driving the collection, and defending the analytic call when a senior leader pushes back. If you've spent your career waiting to be told what the answer should be, this will be uncomfortable. If you've been the one making it, keep reading.
What You Own
- Own TacSRT Operational Planning Products end to end — request validation through final quality review and delivery.
- Translate CCMD and Space Component requests into executable collection strategies across EO, SAR, and RF sensors.
- Apply ICD 203 and 206 standards to every product; defend sourcing, confidence language, and stated gaps.
- Brief findings directly to senior military and civilian stakeholders, without a layer of translation in between.
- Prioritize competing taskings against capacity, timeline, and mission impact during surge periods.
- Mentor junior operators on tradecraft, tooling, and the judgment calls that never make it into an SOP.
- Improve SOPs, quality criteria, and onboarding based on what breaks during real missions.
What You Bring
Required Education & Experience
- High School Diploma/GED and 8+ years of relevant experience, OR
- Associate degree in a related field and 6+ years of relevant experience, OR
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related field and 4+ years of relevant experience, OR
- Master's degree in a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience
Must-Have
- Hands-on ISR operations experience — collection management, GEOINT analysis, or all-source production in a joint or operational environment.
- Direct experience building or quality-reviewing operational intelligence products against real deadlines, not academic exercises.
- Working knowledge of commercial imagery capabilities across EO, SAR, and RF — revisit timelines, tasking constraints, and where each sensor stops being useful.
- Applied familiarity with structured analytic standards (ICD 203/206) — sourcing, confidence language, and stating plainly what you don't know.
- Demonstrated ability to brief senior military or civilian leadership and hold up under questioning.
- Proven independent execution in high-tempo environments where tasking changes faster than the plan does.
Preferred
- Active TS/SCI.
- JCO TacSRT 201, EMSO JCO 202, or equivalent operator training already completed.
- GEOINT certification or NGA imagery analyst accreditation, or Space 200/300, Orbital Mechanics, or NSSI coursework.
- Working familiarity with the Joint Planning Process and USSPACECOM / U.S. Space Force component relationships.
