The Program Manager Maintenance Safety is responsible for ensuring appropriate standards are established and maintained to provide the highest level of safety for Breeze’s Tech Ops workgroup. They report to the Manager of Ops Safety with dotted-line reporting for regular check-ins with Breeze’s Part 119 Director of Quality.
The Maintenance Safety Program Manager is a subject matter expert in maintenance safety practices and procedures for Breeze. As an individual contributor, they develop, implement, and lead innovative safety programs and processes. This role exercises considerable judgment to make safety related decisions to ensure aircraft maintenance is performed at the highest level of safety, in accordance with Breeze Airways policies and procedures, and aircraft manufacturer policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Collaborates with Tech Ops QA on investigations, to include being investigation lead, for incidents or events involving Breeze Tech Ops personnel or aircraft.
- →Evaluates, reviews, and makes recommendations resulting from incident/accident investigations and trend analysis of safety information.
- →Manages safety reporting for the Tech Ops division by ensuring a robust, closed-loop process (to include escalation and feedback) for team member safety reporting.
- →Partners with Tech Ops leadership to ensure robust analysis of safety performance risk, escalated trends, and ensures effective visibility to risk control/mitigation progress.
- →Facilitates the Safety Risk Assessment (SRA) process for Tech Ops and cross-divisional workgroups.
- →Responsible for tracking and trending all maintenance related OSHA events/reports and providing mitigation strategies.
- →Manages Regionalized Safety Programs/Committees for maintenance operations.
- →Represents the safety division at the Maintenance Continuing Analysis and Surveillance (CASS) meeting with safety trends and performance updates.
- →Performs weekly hangar and maintenance line safety visits, as assigned, and reports findings/recommendations to the Manager Operational Safety and Tech Ops leadership.
- →Manages the Tech Ops Safety Promotion and Communication program, to include safety bulletins, safety newsletters, front-line awareness of occurrences, events, and trends.
- →Assist the Safety team in the readiness of the Breeze’s Emergency Response Program.
- →Participates and represents Tech Ops safety at meetings including:
- →Safety Review Board (SRB)
- →Aircraft Ground Damage Review Board (DRB)
- →Weekly Safety Review (WSR)
- →Employee Injury Review Board (EIRB) meeting
- →Other Breeze Safety and Tech Ops meetings as needed
- →Maintains proficiency in accident and incident investigative techniques, photographic documentation and technical skills, human factors continuing education, safety research, and investigation analysis.
- →Perform all other duties/projects as assigned.
Requirements
~2 min read- 4 years of airline maintenance experience with large commercial or military aircraft.
- An FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
- Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
- Demonstrated understanding of Breeze Airways safety standards and safe operation practices, or equivalent safety experience within the airline or transportation industry (14 CFR 1, the certificate holder’s operation specifications, and the manuals required by 121.133).
- Demonstrated experience with Safety Management System (SMS) concepts, including facilitation of Safety Risk Management (SRM) processes and risk assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations including interviewing, fact finding, and root cause analysis.
- Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
- Must promote and represent Breeze’s value of Safety as a safety ambassador, support Breeze’s SMS program, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 40% of the time.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience developing policy and procedures and implementing changes within the operation.
- A minimum of 2 years of safety program experience.
- Attended a recognized university safety degree producing program or comprehensive safety certificate program from the U.S. Government, U.S. Armed Forces, or other recognized organization.
- Experience presenting and analyzing safety, data including trend analysis and decision-making from event and investigation reports.
- OSHA experience and training
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

- Ability to work with individuals and teams at all levels in the organization
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite required
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite preferred

- High performance orientation, ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Flexibility to work on adhoc projects
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available on short notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the Breeze culture
