CPJ St. Lucia Ltd. is seeking an accomplished and commercially astute executive to join its leadership team as Commercial and Operations Director.
This is an executive-level appointment with full accountability for the financial, commercial, operational, customer and people performance of the Company’s distribution business. The successful candidate will provide integrated leadership across Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Warehouse, Fleet, Maintenance, Facilities, Security and Distribution Operations.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Commercial and Operations Director will lead the execution of a profitable and sustainable commercial and operations strategy, strengthen cross-functional performance and ensure that business growth is supported by operational excellence, sound financial governance and superior customer service.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Assume full P&L accountability for the distribution business, including revenue, gross margin, trade spend, operating expenditure, contribution/EBITDA and working capital performance.
- Develop and execute integrated commercial and operational strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
- Provide strategic leadership to the Commercial Sales Manager, Marketing & Customer Service Manager and Operations Manager.
- Drive profitable revenue growth, market expansion, customer acquisition and improved performance across all distribution channels.
- Strengthen pricing, discount, rebate, promotional and trade-spend governance.
- Oversee route-to-market strategies, key account performance, brand development and principal relationships.
- Ensure alignment between sales commitments, inventory availability, warehouse capacity, fleet readiness and delivery performance.
- Drive improvements in On-Time In-Full delivery, order fulfilment, inventory accuracy, shrinkage, warehouse productivity, vehicle uptime and cost-to-serve.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with principals, suppliers, major customers and other key stakeholders.
- Partner with Finance and Procurement to strengthen forecasting, margin management, inventory productivity, customer profitability and working capital discipline.
- Establish integrated performance dashboards and lead structured monthly business reviews.
- Develop a high-performance leadership culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, customer focus, ethical conduct and continuous improvement.
- Lead major transformation, systems optimization and organizational change initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Operations Management or a related discipline.
- An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification would be a strong asset.
- At least ten (10) years of progressive senior leadership experience within FMCG, food and beverage distribution, wholesale, retail distribution, commercial operations, sales, supply chain or a related sector.
- At least five years of experience with P&L accountability, budget ownership and leadership of managers or functional heads.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams across commercial, sales, marketing, customer experience, logistics and operations.
- Strong knowledge of route-to-market management, key accounts, pricing, trade spend, brand and principal management, warehousing, fleet, inventory and cost-to-serve.
- Proven experience negotiating with major customers, suppliers and principals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business systems, including ERP, CRM, WMS, reporting and analytics platforms.
- Experience within Caribbean distribution, FMCG, beverages, frozen or chilled products, HORECA, modern trade or multi-channel distribution would be an asset.
- Legal entitlement to work in Saint Lucia.
