PRIMARY DUTY:
This position is responsible for administering related zoning and development ordinances, coordinating the development review process, preparing plans, studies, property owner notifications, and presentations. This position also provides information and assistance to city departments, developers, builders and the general public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree or previous work experience in municipal government, planning, or closely related field.
- Texas experience is a plus, but not required.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED
- Must have a valid Class "C" Texas driver's license, have a good driving record.
- Eligibility to take AICP is desired; AICP strongly preferred, but not required.
Senior Planner:
Salary range: $71,855.32-$107,782.98
PRIMARY DUTY:
This position is responsible for administering related zoning and development ordinances, coordinating the development review process, preparing plans, studies, property owner notifications, and presentations. This position also provides information and assistance to city departments, developers, builders and the general public. Acts as an experienced resource to both others within the department.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Architecture, Urban Planning, Public Administration or related field plus 3 years of relevant experience, or
- Master's degree in Urban Planning or related field plus 1 year of relevant experience desired.
- Texas experience is a plus, but not required.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Must have a valid Class "C" Texas driver's license, have a good driving record
- Eligibility to take AICP is desired; AICP strongly preferred but not required.
Principal Planner:
Salary range: $75,448.08 - $113,172.12
PRIMARY DUTY:
This position is responsible for performing and overseeing a wide range of development-related tasks, and managing the development process including related land use applications, site plans, plats, variance/waiver applications. Examines applications for compliance with established plans and all applicable regulations, soliciting input from staff and other stakeholders through established meeting and hearing processes. This position also collaborates with the department management to effectively lead, manage, work with and coordinate the recommendations of other departments, divisions, and groups, both internal and external, in the review of zoning and development applications, long-range plans, and special reports.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Architecture, Urban Planning, Public Administration or related field plus five years of relevant experience, or
- Master's degree in Urban Planning or related field plus three years of relevant experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Must have a valid Class "C" Texas driver's license, with good driving record.
- Must have AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) Certification or be able to obtain within 12 months of hire date.
