About the Role

In this role, you’ll play a key part in helping ATCO maximize the value of its software investments while supporting a strong, compliant, and efficient technology environment. Working closely with Contracts, Procurement, Applications, and Infrastructure teams, you’ll manage software licensing records and asset data, support renewals and audits, respond to software requests, and help strengthen our software asset management program. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working across teams, solving complex licensing challenges, and making a meaningful impact through both operational excellence and strategic insight.

Responsibilities

•    Oversee software asset management activities, including creating license records, processing purchases, removals and changes, monitoring compliance risks, analyzing usage data for cost-saving opportunities, managing renewals, and coordinating license reclamation.
•    Develop and implement software asset management policies and procedures and educate employees to support consistent adherence.
•    Support client requests for new software and licensing information, providing clear guidance and advisory services to stakeholders.
•    Build strong relationships with software vendors and partner with Vendor Management and Contracts to resolve agreement and licensing challenges.
•    Stay current on key vendor licensing models, changes, and updates to support informed decision-making and compliance.
•    Contribute to software compliance audits by working with cross-functional teams to review and address findings.
•    Keep software asset management data accurate and aligned by ensuring software models are connected to the appropriate contracts.
•    Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the right licenses are in place before deployment and support purchase requisitions and related cost data for invoice processing.

 

•    Post-secondary diploma with a preference in IT, Business/Commerce, or Supply Chain
•    3+ years’ experience of software asset procurement and management
•    Experience working in a corporate, technology-driven organization
•    Strong understanding of software licensing, compliance, procurement, and asset management practices, including the ability to reconcile purchased rights and maintenance terms with deployed software assets
•    Strong data analysis and manipulation skills including strong MS Excel
•    Experience working with major vendor licensing models, such as Microsoft, Oracle, VMware, and Salesforce 
•    Experience using software asset management and procurement tools such as ServiceNow, SCCM, or Oracle Purchasing
•    Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills 
•    Ability to communicate complex licensing or technical information clearly to non-technical audiences while managing competing priorities
•    General understanding of current IT technologies and industry practices
•    Self-starter who can work independently and proactively resolve licensing issues
•    Proficiency with Software Asset Management and Procurement tools, such as: Service Now, Microsoft SCCM, Oracle Purchasing
•    ServiceNow SAM Pro experience and/or CIS-SAM certification are strong assets
