Summer Student - Estimation & Operations

Position Overview:
ATCO Frontec is looking for a motivated Summer Student who is eager to learn and gain real-world experience in construction and facility operations. This role is ideal for students interested in developing practical skills such as estimating, coordination, and business communication (including proposal writing).

You will be part of our Estimation & Operations team, supporting a variety of projects and learning how work moves from planning to execution. This position is based in our Calgary office.

What You’ll Do:

• Support engineers, project managers, and field teams with day-to-day activities
• Assist with reviewing drawings, scopes of work, and basic project requirements
• Help prepare documents such as proposals, bids (RFPs/RFQs), and pre-qualification packages
• Contribute to material take-offs, cost tracking, and basic estimating tasks
• Organize and track project information (materials, labor, subcontractors)
• Assist with project coordination, including scheduling and progress tracking
• Learn how safety plans, installation requirements, and field activities are developed

Who You Are:

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (Engineering, CET, Trades, Construction, Business, or related fields)
• Interested in construction, operations, or project coordination
• Organized, detail-oriented, and willing to learn
• Strong team player with good communication skills
• Comfortable using basic computer tools (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Eager to learn and willing to multitask. No Experience required.
