Job Purpose: the Risk & Compliance Officer is the institution's dedicated compliance lead. The role covers AML/CFT monitoring, CBG statutory reporting, customer due diligence oversight, credit risk compliance, sanctions screening, and the development of a strong compliance culture across the institution. The officer also serves as the primary liaison between Kolomoni MFI Gambia and the CBG and the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of The Gambia. Key Responsibilities: Monitor transactions for AML/CFT red flags; file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) with the FIU within statutory deadlines Screen customers and transactions against UNSC, OFAC, EU, and GIABA sanctions lists Prepare and submit all CBG statutory returns, AML/CFT filings, and credit bureau reports on schedule Review account opening documentation and ensure CDD/EDD compliance with the Gambia AML/CFT Act 2012 Monitor CBG circulars and regulatory updates; advise management on compliance implications Review loan files for credit policy and SOL compliance; track PAR as a credit risk indicator Serve as the CBG examination and FIU liaison; coordinate remediation of regulatory findings Deliver annual AML/CFT training to all staff and maintain a compliance records library Requirements Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Banking, or a related field 3–5 years' experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs within a bank, MFI, or financial services institution Strong knowledge of the Gambia AML/CFT Act 2012, CBG regulations, and GIABA compliance standards Experience with STR/CTR filing and sanctions screening processes Professional certification in CAMS, ICA Diploma in AML/Compliance, ACCA, or equivalent is strongly preferred Excellent written communication skills for regulatory submissions and management reporting
