As a Food Runner this position will provide support to restaurant servers/bartenders and the overall operation of the restaurant by serving food orders, removing used dishes and utensils and replenishing service areas as necessary to ensure our guests’ satisfaction. A Food Runner is knowledgeable of food and beverage offerings and provides service that is informed, attentive, timely and professional. This position will report to the Food and Beverage Managers.
Requirements
~1 min readThe position includes morning and afternoon/evening shifts with regular weekend attendance. Holidays are scheduled as business requires.
Due to the cyclical nature of hospitality, flexibility is required to meet business needs. Participation in “all hands” events may be necessary.
The hotel operates 24/7, including holidays. The company strives to support work-life balance.
- Hospitality experience preferred.
- Experience working with diverse cultures and backgrounds preferred.
- Previous exposure to a restaurant setting preferred

- Lifting & Strength: Must have upper body strength to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift. Requires finger, hand, and upper body dexterity to push, pull, and move levers, equipment, and furniture. Must be able to work with arms raised above head for extended periods.
- Carrying & Moving: Regularly carrying, lifting, or pulling items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner
- →Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables rapidly and accurately
- →Act as the contact point between Front of the House and Back of the House staff
- →Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (e.g. food allergies)
- →Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g. proper temperature)
- →Remove dirty dishes and utensils
- →Answer guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items
- →Inform restaurant staff about customers’ feedback or requests (e.g. when they ask for the check)
- →Clean, set and clear tables in support of restaurant servers when needed
- →Provide serving support to servers – beverage and food
- →Maintain restaurant in clean and orderly manner
- →Move table and chairs as required
- →Coordinate stocking of linens with management team
- →Transport all dirty tableware to dishwashing area for cleaning
- →Stock and maintain stations with necessary equipment
- →Helping other outlets within the department as needed
- →Completes any duties or projects assigned by the Food and Beverage manager
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Effective verbal communication skills
- Food and Beverage knowledge would be beneficial
- Committed to delivering a high level of customer service
- Excellent grooming standards
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work on their own
- Positive attitude
- Experience as a Food Expeditor or similar entry-level role in a restaurant
- Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
- Physical ability to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours
- Availability to work various shifts, including weekends
- Multi-tasking abilities
- In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Manager on Duty based upon the requirements of the hotel.

- High School diploma, general education degree or international equivalent preferred.
- CPR/Heimlich training preferred
- Fluency of the English language is strongly preferred.
