Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Data Manager to join our team in Oakland, Walnut Creek, Davis, or Sacramento, California. In this role, you will support the development and management of environmental data systems, workflows, and quality processes for multidisciplinary projects involving environmental assessment, groundwater remediation, water resources, geotechnical construction, and related services. You will combine environmental chemistry expertise with strong database, automation, and client-service skills to deliver accurate, accessible, and decision-ready information.

Responsibilities

  • →Design, develop, and manage project-specific relational database applications using enterprise platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server and EQuIS.
  • →Create documented workflows and metadata that automate the integration of data from multiple sources and deliver it to maps, reports, dashboards, and other tools.
  • →Manage environmental datasets across the full data lifecycle, from planning and collection through analysis and final reporting.
  • →Establish and perform QA/QC for environmental data, systems, and related processes.
  • →Compile, verify, analyze, and report large, complex, and diverse datasets.
  • →Coordinate with laboratories, consultants, agencies, and other internal and external data providers to support accurate, timely data collection and transfer.
  • →Collect, transform, query, and analyze environmental analytical, geologic, geotechnical, and geospatial data.
  • →Interact with internal and external clients to deliver database management and data-visualization solutions for environmental, engineering, and geoscience projects.
  • →Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

You will collaborate with experienced professionals across disciplines while contributing your own technical expertise and perspective.   • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, chemistry, geography, computer science, engineering, or geology. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental science, chemistry, geography, computer science, engineering, or geology. (preferred)

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of technical training and experience in relational database technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience managing databases and developing ETL processes. (required)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access, including complex formulas and effective data visualization. (required) 
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries and automate routine processes. (required)
  • Experience automating processes with scripting languages such as Python or R. (required)
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities. (required)
  • Exceptional attention to detail across quantitative work products and written communications. (required)
  • Proficiency with EarthSoft’s EQuIS environmental data management platform. (preferred)
  • Direct experience managing environmental, geologic, and geotechnical data collection. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of laboratory analytical data verification and validation processes. (preferred)
  • Experience submitting data to and retrieving data from agency and government databases, including California Water Boards GeoTracker, CIWQS, NIRIS, ERPIMS, and CEDEN. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $127,530 /year / Maximum Salary: $178,540 /year (Oakland, CA, Walnut Creek, CA)
  • Minimum Salary: $121,985 /year / Maximum Salary: $170,780 /year (Davis, CA, Sacramento, CA)
